Jinsi Ya Kutunza Nywele za Rasta zilizosukwa (Braids) Taking Care of Braided Hair

Traditionally a hairstyle for black hair, braids is a versatile hairstyle that can be adapted into many shapes, styles and types of hair. Just remember that caring for braids is just as important as getting the latest style.

Silk or satin scarf wrapped around your head at night keeps your braids neat (avoid using cotton as it draws out your braids’ natural oils).
Treat your scalp to an invigorating fingertip massage using scalp oil and sponge the braids themselves with a braid shampoo.

Some braided styles should not be washed (such as corkscrew braids), ask your hair braiding stylist.

You may be tempted to keep those glamorous braids in forever, but remember that it’s unhealthy to keep your braided hairstyle for more than two months (black hair is more suited to keeping in braids for the maximum of two months due to its texture and natural oil levels).

When braids or weaves are removed, allow hair to rest first before styling again.
