David and Victoria Beckham Donate Clothes and Shoes to Help Philippines’ Typhoon Victim
The retired football player and his designer wife pack their secondhand designer clothes and shoes to be sold at British Red Cross’ shop in Chelsea.
David Beckham and Victoria Adams are the latest celebrity to take part in the typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines. The couple cleared out their wardrobes and donated a number of shoes and 20 boxes of clothes for British Red Cross’ charity sale benefiting the survivors.“Proud to support @BritishRedCross #ShopDrop Donating clothes for #Haiyan survivors,” the mother of four tweeted along with a picture of herself sitting in one of the boxes. The singer-turned-fashion designer wore casual rolled-up jeans, a sweater and a pair of white trainers.
The former Spice Girls star hyped up the fundraiser by posting a picture of her shoe donations, “Big clear out of my shoes, on sale tomorrow in aid of @BritishRedCross #ShopDrop.” She added, “Don’t forget David’s clothes on sale too tomorrow in aid of @BritishRedCross #ShopDrop.”
Her Twitter promotion seemed to work well as a big crowd flooded a Red Cross shop in Chelsea Friday morning, November 22. Items on sale include Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik shoes, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli dresses, and many other designer outfits.
The price ranged from £25 for a T-shirt to £200 for a Dolce & Gabbana dress. There were no immediate figures for the Friday sale, but Victoria raised almost £7,000 in a similar fundraising effort for cancer campaign in 2010.
“Thank u everyone for shopping today!! We raised a lot of money for @BritishRedCross! Congratulations!#ShopDrop,” she captioned a picture of empty shelves in the store.
